W. L. Wentworth - Bridgeport, Conn. is a private label in Seth Thomas 18-size open-face Model 5. Watson Lyman Wentworth was born on December 11, 1844, in Hamden Massachusetts. He owned a home furnishings store at 69 & 71 John Street in Bridgeport Connecticut from the 1890’s until his death in 1905. W. L. Wentworth is buried at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport.  An advertisement from the 1896 Bridgeport Connecticut City Directory is shown below.

Prescott Alvord Goodnough, born on August 25, 1869, in Lowville New York, was a jeweler doing business at 710 State Street in Unionville Pennsylvania. He lived at 1201 E Lake Road in Unionville with his wife Nelie. He died on September 16,1963 in New York and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.

Its serial number is 225495, and its grade is Seth Thomas numbered Marked Grade 182.  The movement is signed “The Accurate Timer - Cosmopolitan Watch Co. - U.S.A.”.  

The movement presents with an 18-size Morris Feinberg - Ironwood, Mich. Roman dial with a ring minute track and red five-minute marginals; fitted with Seth Thomas #1281 blued spade hands 18-size.

According to a 2012 post on the NAWCC website Morris Feinberg immigrated to the United States in 1892 or 1893 and his jewelry store was located at 224 Suffolk St. in Ironwood Michigan. His business partner was Raphael Sloan. Roy Ehrhardt’s “Identification and Price Guide” reports that the Cosmopolitan Watch Co. movements were also produced by Illinois Watch Company.

This 1904 Seth Thomas open-face 18-size Model 5 pocket watch was manufactured with a nickel finished full plate, 17 jewels, and it is non-adjusted. The movement is stem wound and lever set, with a Breguet hair spring, and micrometric regulator. Its serial number is 225562, and its grade is Seth Thomas numbered grade 159. The movement is signed “Seth Thomas Thomaston, Conn.”.

The movement presents with an 18-size private label "Bosell Couri Biddeford ME." Roman dial with the image of a Locomotive on the dial, a ring minute track and red five-minute marginals, fitted with Seth Thomas #1282 Heavy Spade Railroad Blued Hands 18-size. 

The combined information from the 1900 U.S. Census, the 1905 Death Record of Bosell Couri, and the Portland Maine City Directory tells us that after emigrating from Syria; Bosell Couri was a jeweler in Portland Maine until his death in 1905 at age 31.  He was a jeweler with a close family member, probably a brother, Bshara G. Couri, with whom he shared a residence, and who continued to be a jeweler after the death of Bosell Couri.  There are pocket watches with locomotives on their dials bearing the signature “B. G. Couri Special” that were produced for his brother Bshara by other watch manufacturers.
