Seth Thomas Pocket Watch Models

This overview of Seth Thomas pocket watch models highlights both the similarities and differences between the twenty-four models manufactured between 1885 and 1910. The models are primarily organized and grouped for discussion here as they were organized on Page 1 of the 1904 Seth Thomas Watch Material Catalog shown below.

Model 1 and Model 3 are grouped together because Model 3 was the replacement for and based closely upon the design of Model 1. Although the Eagle Series includes the 18-size Models 6-9 and the 6-size Models 15-17; the 6-size models are broken out here for ease of navigation as most readers would not look for them under the Eagle Series heading. The same issue applies to the 6-size Century Model 18 movements.  Most readers would associate the Century Series with the 18-size Models 9-13; but would not look for information on the 6-size Model 18 under the heading of Century Series.

In 1913 Seth Thomas release the Centennial Series to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Seth Thomas Clock Company. The Centennial Series includes the 16-size Pendant Set Model 21, 12-size Pendant Set Model 22, and 6-size open-face Pendant Set Model 24. For obvious reasons the 1904 Seth Thomas Watch Material Catalog does not include information about the 1913 Centennial Series.

At the end of each page in this section there is a list of references from which I drew the information on this website. You will see numbers [in brackets] at the end of some sentences on the website. These references are the information sources that the numbers are related to. Many of these reference books are old and out of print; but they are all available to us for a reasonable price on eBay and similar websites. I’m not smarter than any of the people visiting this website. I just know how and where to find information.
