T. F. Rude - Cuba, N.Y. is a private label in Seth Thomas (206428, and 206806) Model 5 presently presenting at auction. This private label also appears in Hamilton Watch Company Model 1 and there is reference to Illinois Watch Company manufacturing this private label in 16-size Model 4.

Theodore F. Rude, born on January 2, 1846, in the village of Cuba, New York, was jeweler in Connecticut and in Nunda, New York before opening his own store at Cuba, New York in 1869.  In June of 1871 Theodore Rude was married to Hannah Waterbury. They had three children, Emerson, Morey, and Ida. Mr. Rude was involved in many civic groups within the community and continued to work as a jeweler until his death at 64 years of age on December 9, 1909.
