1903-1904 Illustrated Catalogue Supplement Number Six
Emil Braude & Bro. were wholesale dealers in Chicago, Illinois established in 1894 supplying watchmakers, jobbers, jewelers, and retailers across the United States with horological material, display cases, watch movements, watch cases, clocks, silverware, optical goods, jobbing stones, watchmakers' and jewelers’ supplies, and a broad range of jewelry, gems, and other gift items. Select pages from the 1903-1904 Illustrated Catalogue Supplement Number Six are shown below as an introduction to Emil Braude & Bro., to support the presentation of the four Seth Thomas pocket watch movements shown on page 7, and to introduce product lines that were viable during the period in which the catalogue was published.
On page 7 below there are four Seth Thomas movement advertised as Holiday Specials. Across the top row on page 7 from left to right we have an 18-size Open-face Model 6 (Old Eagle Series) movement with a nickel finish, and 7 jewels, grade 36. Next there is another 18-size Open-face Model 6 (Old Eagle Series) movement. This one has 15 jewels, and grade 206. On the right end of the top row, we have an 18-size Open-face Model 5 with a full plate, 15 jewels, and grade 159. In the center of the second row on page 7 we apparently have a 6-size hunting Model 16 with 7 jewels, and grade 35. The cuts shown in the catalog are a bit confusing. The design features and serial number ranges don’t exactly match the written details provided in the advertisement. I suppose that the average customer wouldn’t pick up on that, and the images are an approximation of the product being advertised in the text descriptions.
