Harry Arthur Belknap, born on January 24, 1870, in St. Johnsbury Vermont, was a jeweler at 80 Railroad Street (renumbered to 430 Railroad Street in the mid-1900’s) in St. Johnsbury Vermont from 1890 until his death on November 3, 1902, at the age of 32. Mr. Belknap had become married to Maud Louisa Foan on September 18, 1901.

The postcard photographs below show Railroad Street at the time when Harry Belknap operated his jewelry store there. In the first photograph the building on the left side of the street with the conical roof is on the corner of Railroad Street and Eastern Avenue. 80 Railroad Street (presently 430 Railroad Street) is farther down on the right-hand side of the street, approximately where the farthest horse-drawn carriage is visible. In 2025 the building was home to the “Artisans Guild” emporiums, and the local Verizon Store.
