J. M. Bigwood - Terre Haute, Ind. is a private label pocket watch in Seth Thomas 18-size hunting Model 2 and Seth Thomas 6-size hunting Model 14. Observed on the PWD

John M. Bigwood, born January 20, 1856, in Robinson Illinois, was a jeweler and optician in Terre Haute Indiana from the 1880’s until his retirement in the 1920’s. He started out working for others, then had his own store, Bigwood’s Jewelry Store, and then was joined by his son in J. M. Bigwood & Son. John Bigwood died on December 28, 1933, at 77 years of age.

The advertisement at the top appeared in The Effingham Democrat on Friday August 19, 1892, on page 15. Bigwood’s Jewelry Store only appears at the bottom explaining the prizes are at Bigwood’s Jewelry Store.

The article at the bottom appeared in the South Bend News-Times on Thursday December 4, 1913, on page 11.
