Henry Molineux is a factory named grade manufactured by Seth Thomas in Model 2 and Model 3 with either 17, 20, or 21 jewels, a Breguet hairspring and Higginbotham hairspring stud, micrometric regulator, and adjusted to an unspecified number of positions. All Henry Molineux grade movements are signed with the marking Henry Molineux.  Henry Molineux is the second highest quality factory named grade manufactured by Seth Thomas; behind only Maiden Lane factory named grade.

The 1888-1889 Seth Thomas 18-size hunting Model 2 pocket watch pictured above was manufactured with a nickel finished divided 3/4 plate, 17 jewels, and it is adjusted. The movement is stem wound and lever set, with a Higginbotham hairspring stud, Breguet hair spring, and micrometric regulator. Its serial number is 55034, and its grade is Seth Thomas named grade Henry Molineux. This is the 34th Model 2 Henry Molineux grade pocket watch manufactured by Seth Thomas. The lowest Henry Molineux serial number that I have seen is 54999 and that was a Model 3. The movement is signed “Henry Molineux”.

The movement presents with an 18-size double-sunk Seth Thomas #1228 Roman dial with a ring minute track and red five-minute marginals. It is fitted with Seth Thomas #1284 blued Fleur-de-Lis hands, 18-size. This was the standard compliment of dial and hands for movements in the Henry Molineux factory named grade.

The movement is cased in an open-face 18-size 14k gold-filled, 20-year Crescent Watch Case Company hunting pocket watch case with hinged back and front covers. The case’s serial number is 137968.
