The “Favorite” - Cyrus N. Gibbs - South Framingham, Mass. is a private label pocket watch in the Seth Thomas 18-size hunting Model 3.

Cyrus Nelson Gibbs, born September 24, 1846, in Cambridge Massachusetts, owned and operated a jewelry store on Hollis Street (Oddfellows Block) in South Framingham Massachusetts starting in approximately 1877. He lived with his wife, Helen Francis (Puffer) Gibbs, and two daughters Irene and Ella at 75 Union Avenue. Mr. Gibbs’ store was damage by an explosion in 1880; but his business continued there until his retirement in approximately 1912 due to a head injury incurred while on vacation.

The postcard photograph below shows business district in South Framingham Massachusetts in the early 1900’s when Cyrus N. Gibbs operated his jewelry store there.

The lower-left article appeared in The Boston Globe on Tuesday December 3, 1884, on page 5. The lower-right obituary appeared in the Boston Globe on July 6, 1922.
