C.S. Hayes was born in Orleans County Vermont. In July of 1881 he opened a store in Norfolk Nebraska where he sold jewelry, silver cutlery, watches, and musical instruments. He had previously worked as a jeweler in Iowa (Cedar Rapids and Blairstown) between 1771 and 1881. The three postcards below show downtown Norfolk Nebraska during the time that C. S. Hayse was a jeweler there.
