August H. Stechner, born in 1851 in Luebbecke Germany, was a jeweler, initially at 299 Third Street and then 296 West Water Street (now N. Plankinton Ave), in Milwaukee Wisconsin from 1881 until his death in 1905. His son Henry F. Stechner became the owner of the store and left the name of the business, Aug. H. Stechner, the same.
