Albert Edward Henry, born July 19, 1858, in Plymouth Massachusetts was a jeweler at 118 West State Street in Rockford Illinois from 1888 until his death on August 16, 1913. Mr. Henry lived with his wife Anna, son Russel, and daughter Ruth at 418 Peach Street in Rockford. His brother Christian F. Henry owned a large clothing store a couple of blocks west of Al. Henry’s jewelry store which was on the first block west of the Rock River on West State Street.

The postcard photographs show West State Street near South Main Street in Rockford, Illinois, around the turn of the twentieth century. Christian F. Henry’s clothing store is clearly visible and serves as a landmark for locating his brother Albert E. Henry’s jewelry store in the first block of West State Street. The jewelry store is obscured by street traffic in the first photograph. The second photograph was taken from a point between the brothers’ stores, facing Christian Henry’s clothing store, with Albert Henry’s jewelry store behind the photographer.
